Apple’s computer systems have a well-deserved reputation of providing the easiest and richest computing environment. As Mac or iPhone users, we are privileged: great and easy to use software is the rule rather than the exception.

Sadly that rule hasn’t always applied to the tools and technologies used to create such programs. Learning to write software for the Mac has traditionally involved a major investment of effort and time in new tools and techniques.

The latest release of Xcode gives the new developer a formidable tool-chest for Mac and iPhone development that is easier than ever to use. With these, building great Mac and iPhone software should be within the grasp of most competent Mac users.

This talk by Ian Piper, author of Learn Xcode Tools for Mac OS X and iPhone Development, is an introduction to how you can use the Xcode Tools to create great Mac and iPhone software, with a guided tour of the tools and technologies.

The talk is aimed very much at the new developer to the Mac - either migrating to the Mac from other platforms or starting out on software development.

The meeting is free for MMUG members visiting members pay just £3 to cover refreshments.
